Russland, Ukraine und Postcrossing

Es ist schon mehreren Leuten aufgefallen, dass man früher viel Post aus der Ukraine bekam, heute kaum noch, auch Adressen aus der Ukraine habe ich schon lange nicht mehr gezogen. Die haben natürlich andere Sorgen, aber das ist ja nicht erst seit dieser Woche so.
Dagegen ist Russland immer noch sehr aktiv und ich bekomme auch viele Karten und Adressen von dort. Postcrossing hat also nicht die Absicht, Russland auszuschließen, was ich gut finde, weil man so auch mit normalen Leuten ins Gespräch kommen kann. Spannend finde ich nun, ob es irgendwelche Statements, Kommentare, freundliche oder unfreundliche Äußerungen gibt. Nicht so richtig viele, scheint mir, aber ich habe doch auch beim flüchtigen Klicken ein bisschen gefunden.

Bevor ich aber solche Seiten zitiere, möchte ich noch die Karte vorstellen, die ich heute aus Russland bekam und die mir ausnehmend gut gefällt, weil sie von beiden Seiten literarisch ist.   

Auf der Vorderseite befindet sich ein Zitat des Schriftstellers Andrei Platonov, auf der Rückseite eine Briefmarke mit dem Bild von Sergei Alexandrowitsch Yesenin, deutsch wohl Jessenin. Der war Dichter und ein bemerkenswerter Typ mit einem bemerkenswerten Leben, das bereits mit 30 Jahren endete, wahrscheinlich durch Selbstmord. Beiden ist gemeinsam, dass sie von den Auswirkungen der russischen Revolution enttäuscht waren und Stalin ablehnten, was durchaus auf Gegenseitigkeit beruhte. Anna, die mir die Karte geschickt hat, ist 20 Jahre alt, will Journalistin werden und versendet viele solcher Karten mit Zitaten oder Bildern kritischer Schriftsteller. Ich weiß nicht, ob das eine Message sein soll, aber die Karte endet so: "Be careful! From Russia with love".   

Nun zu meinen ersten Eindrücken, wie sich der Krieg gegen die Ukraine bei Postcrossing niederschlägt. Allererster Eindruck: gar nicht. Dann aber doch ein paar Fundstücke. Ich habe völlig willkürlich Olga aus Russland angeklickt, weil sie eine Brille trägt, das sieht immer so intelligent aus. Sie stellt ihrem Profil folgendes voraus:

Hello postcrossers!

Yesterday morning I was shocked when I heard the news. What I’m feeling right now is the pain, the rage and great shame. It was impossible to imagine that in the 21st century my country could start a war. I’m crying out of impotence.

My grandfather was born and lived in Ukraine. I’m a quarter Ukrainian. In the Second World War he fought and survived. He was injured and disabled. I’m proud that he bled for the peace and freedom of all countries from fascism. I think today he turned in his grave because a crazy Russian dictator is bombing Ukrainian cities.

I am against war like many sane citizens of Russia!

The problem is that Putin doesn’t care. He has no one to stop him.

State democratic institutions destroyed in Russia. There are no free elections and no independent parliament and court. Opposition defeated. Anyone who disagrees with the authorities is imprisoned or forced to leave the country. There are more than a thousand political prisoners in Russia. There is very little independent media and they’re being chased. People are imprisoned for tweets and social media posts. Street protests are brutally repressed. It may be said that a criminal group led by Putin has seized power and the population is being held hostage.

Yesterday I signed a petition to stop the war. In a few hours on the Internet, she got almost 500,000 signatures. The war is opposed by many well-known scientific, journalists, actors, musicians, political scientists. In Moscow, Saint Petersburg and other cities of Russia held rallies. More than 1,700 persons detained by the police.

I’m not asking for sympathy I’m just explaining the realities of our lives. You have the right to treat Russia with contempt.

I’m ashamed to look you in the eye even though I can’t see them. I don’t expect any more postcards and I release you from this duty.

Hello my postcrossing friends!

On February 24, Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine [authorities forbid us to use the word that starts with W and ends with R].

Last week, you have seen in my profile a text in which I spoke of my thoughts and feelings about this event. But today, unfortunately, I have to remove it.

Yesterday, the State Duma adopted amendments to the Criminal Code. They added two articles providing for a criminal penalty of up to 15 years' imprisonment for misreporting events in Ukraine and discrediting the Russian Army.

In fact, the country has been severely censored. Anti-War movement in Russia is outlawed. Journalists who write the truth are equated with criminals and extremists.

In Russia blocked Facebook, Twitter, websites of foreign publications (Radio Free Europe, Deutsche Welle and others). The last independent Russian media have stopped functioning.

Thank you very much to the postcrossers who sent me messages of support! I really appreciate it. Now postcrossing helps me not to despair and keep in touch with the outside world.
